'IndiaStar 2006& PacMachine 2006'Awards Indiastar 2006 Awards INDIASTAR Awards are all about promoting and encouraging excellence in packaging design, innovation and technology. The Award Contest established in 1972 is firmly entrenched and most popular as the premier event for India’s Packaging fraternity. This year the programme attracted a record number of entries, out of which the jury picked 145 entries for the Award. Nominations were received in different categories such as:
The eminent Jury members from Government bodies, institutions, consumer forum and industry judged the entries. Many recipients of the awards in this contest have entered for WPO’s WORLDSTAR 2006 Award and APF’s ASIASTAR 2006 Award Programme. Pacmachine 2006 Awards For recognizing the achievements of packaging machinery sector and to promote their efforts, the Indian Institute of Packaging introduced the PACMACHINE Awards in 1992. The main objective was to recognize the excellence with innovative concepts in design and development in packaging machinery particularly for import substitution & promoting exports. This year there were four categories including Packaging Machinery, Packaging Conversion Machinery, Other Packaging Machinery and Supporting Packaging Machinery. The eminent Jury members from Government bodies, reputed institutions and industry judged the entries. Eight entries were selected for the PACMACHINE Award this year.
Award Function The Award Distribution Function was held on 13th December 2006 at Hotel The Leela Kempinski, Mumbai. Around 400 members from the user industry, award winners, government bodies, Asian Packaging Federation including overseas delegates were present for the award function. The famous celebrity host, actor and producer Mr. Siddharth Basu compared the show. The Awards were presented by Mr. Dharmatilake Ratnayake, Past President-Asian Packaging Federation, Mr. Albert Lim, President-Asian Packaging Federation and Mr. Jacky Charbonneau, Sr. Advisor Packaging-ITC, Geneva. Special appreciation certificates were given to the companies which have won Indiastar 2006 award for more than 10 entries. Asiastar 2006 Awards Declaration and Distribution was also held on the same time. The Indian Packaging Industry has played the most important role to make this event a huge success with their overwhelming support. It was simply a glittering ceremony to celebrate the ‘Packaging Excellence’ adding new dimensions to the packaging industry and creating avenues for recognition not just at national but also global levels as well.
