IIP HYDERABAD, Dr. Gaurav Madhu, Joint Director (Head - IIP Hyderabad)

The opening of IIP - Hyderabad centre was another initiative taken by the Institute to set up the second branch office in the southern part of the country, besides IIP-Chennai centre. This particular centre was set up with the kind assistance from the Government of Andhra Pradesh who allotted a land admeasuring 25,780 sq. ft. However, the Institute constructed a building of approximately 15,156 sq. ft. covered area (Ground + First floor) consisting of material testing laboratory, chemical laboratory, transport testing laboratory, class rooms, conference room, server room, meeting hall etc. The Institute was established in the year 2006. Initially, the Institute started with only testing and training activities related to packaging. Subsequently, the Institute expanded its facilities for testing of bulk packages for the carriage of dangerous goods for export by sea and air as per the IMDG and ICAO regulations, respectively.

Meanwhile, the Institute experienced that a number of students from the southern part of the country showed their interest for undertaking higher education in the field of packaging. Hence, the Institute commenced the two years, full-time Post Graduate Diploma Programme in Packaging Technology in 2011 with an intake of 18 students and now, it is increased to 30 students. The Institute has also taken the initiative for obtaining the accreditation to NABL for its testing laboratories. In addition, this particular centre also offers consultancy services in the field of packaging.
